TO WORK TOGETHER
TO FUND GREAT CAUSES
TO BUILD A BETTER FUTURE
Lions Club of Coventry Godiva is part of the International Association of Lions Clubs which is the largest service organisation in the world with a membership of 1.4 million spread serving over 200 countries and geographic areas.
Our club was formed in May 1994 by a group of 20 members with the foremost objective of getting together and raising funds for local and international causes.
We are a registered Charity and all the Godiva Lions members give their time on a voluntary basis.
Over the years, the club has gone from strength to strength, and is one of the most active and successful in the Lions District 105M.
Since the formation of our club, we’ve made and continue to make donations to various causes, assisting with the needs of children, the sick, the elderly, and the homeless. We’ve been involved with various health initiatives, provided relief aid from major disasters around the world, and more recently helped our local communities in various ways during the Covid-19 pandemic.

I have always been inspired by people who give their time to serve the community. My late parents were doctors and they always believed in helping those in need. I grew up with their outlook, values and principals, and I aim to serve as they did. Having run my own successful advertising agency for the past 15 years, 5 years ago I joined Coventry Godiva Lions, which gave me the exact opportunity to continue pursuing my parents’ aspirations. Being part of this club, made of like-minded people selflessly putting their time and resources into wonderful causes has been a real source of purpose and pleasure for me.
In July 2021, I became President of Coventry Godiva Lions. This is an absolute honour for me and I’m proud to take over the reins from our wonderful past President Lion Anita Kohli.
My chosen charity for this year is Save the Children . This fantastic charity supports children to learn, grow and become who they want to be. It delivers in areas such as food, medicine and protection, and ensures its collective resources and capabilities work to make the world a safer, better place for children. It is important we look after children, especially after the pandemic, and I believe this is a very worthy charity for Coventry Godiva Lions to support.
I also would like to support Bowel Research UK, the UK’s leading specialist bowel cancer and bowel disease research charity. My close family members have been affected by bowel cancer and my husband Vijay is on the national bowel cancer screening program. I understand how crucial it is to get yourself screened and if detected early it is curable. This charity is dedicated to finding effective treatments for bowel cancer and other bowel diseases by researching cutting edge treatments and investing in the best science, thereby saving and improving people’s lives.
You can help us raise funds for these charities and our other events, activities and missions by donating using Paypal or JustGiving.
Coventry Godiva Lions is a fantastic club that is part of Lions Clubs International. We have 40 members, all volunteers, who are motivated in making a positive change in our local communities and internationally.
Thank you to the members for putting your faith in me to lead and represent the club for the next 12 months. I look forward to what we will achieve together.
